This One Fast Cat Wheel Review is not sponsored in any way.
The box One Fast Cat Wheel comes in is fairly big, 5ft x 2ft. The box itself is another great toy for your cat, mine (AJAX) loves it! He crawls under the box then runs around the house as box kitty.
Assembling the Wheel
Assembly was pretty easy. They supply you with all the tools you need to put together the wheel. ( a rubber mallet ) You’ll need scissors to cut the excess foam padding though.
The materials are decent, and One Fast Cat has instructional videos on their website for putting the exercise wheel together. It took me about 40 minutes to put the cat wheel together.
Take a look below to see the video going over how to put together the wheel.
Using the Wheel
When I first put the big wheel on the little wheels, it ran a little wonky. But I laid the big wheel on the floor again and tapped all the intersections with the provided rubber mallet, and now it works great!
And this is where potentially the hardest part begins. Getting your cat to use this thing. One Fast Cat has another video with some tips on how to do this:
One trick I used that wasn’t included the video is playing with your cat before getting him on the wheel. I got AJAX worked up and super intrigued into the string toy I was teasing him with off of the wheel. Then when he was really enthusiastic about getting it, I took it onto the wheel and immediately AJAX was sprinting!
I also kept treats close to the wheel so I could reward AJAX every time I saw him jump on the wheel by himself.
All in all I’d recommend it, my cat is very happy to have it and uses it daily as an outlet for his pent up energy. That being said, at $199 I wouldn’t say it’s a “great value” for the product itself, you definitely pay a premium for One Fast Cat being the only ones on the market. If another wheel comes to market in the future ( and hopefully cheaper! ) I will make a Cat Wheel Review for that product as well and compare the differences.
